UPDATES

Sorry ):

Its been a while since I've posted anything on this blog.  There were many reasons for this, but the most important, was my Mother being diagnosed with lung cancer.  My days were taken up with caring for her, getting her to and from doctors appointments, keeping the family business going, etc.

On December 24, 2014 she passed peacefully in her sleep.  It has taken me this long to decompress, and decide what direction I wanted to go in.

I am still keeping the family business going with help from my brother and sister.  But we are looking to sell the property, and close down.  Know anyone looking for 3.5 acres of commercial property with 800 feet of freeway frontage along Highway 99 between Fresno, California and Fowler, California?  If so send them our way.

I have also decided to start publishing some of my original crochet patterns.  So far I have only one up, it can be found here.   I hope to have a few more up in the next few weeks.

Along with concentrating more on  my crafts, I have decided to get out of the antique and collectible business for a while.  To that end I have slowing been selling off most of my inventory of depression glass, pottery, kitchen gadgets, and other collectibles.  I have kept a few things for myself or to giv e as gifts to friends and family members.

Thats all the updates for right now.  I promise to try and post on a more regular basis from now on.

Kindles Sleeves are Now Available

I have finally settled on the pattern I like best for the Kindle E-reader sleeves.  These are sized to fit the Kindle keyboard which measures 7 1/2 inches long, 4 7/8 inches wide, and approximately 1/4 inch thick.  If your e-reader is near or just under that size it will fit.

These are made of a nice soft, acrylic yarn, with a vintage button used for the flap closure.  They can be machine washed and dried as needed.

I will ship them to any US destination for $14.95 including postage.

Just send me an email letting me know what color (or colors if you want more than one color) you want, and which style you prefer, center button, or side button, and your shipping address.  I will send you a propay invoice where you can pay with credit card.  Upon notice of paid invoice I will ship the e-reader sleeve.  If you prefer to pay with money order let me know, and I will email you the mailing address to send the money order to.

Adventures in Car Repair

So end of July the battery in my van died.  A new battery and everything seemed fine for all of two weeks. When I tried to start the van nothing, no clicking, no grinding, nothing.  Charged the battery, everything fine for about 3 days, you guessed it dead battery.  Checked and the battery seemed to be giving off enough voltage to run the van. Took the van to a local auto zone had them put it on a tester, not the battery but probably the alternator.  Okay, alternators are not cheap, two a few weeks to save the money to buy it, luckily my brother was able to put it on for me. Unforturnately, still having problems keeping the battery charged. More testing.

Alternator is good, but it could be the voltage regulator.  I have a GMC guess where the voltage regulator is. Thats right, its located in the alternator.  Had that checked, all good. Maybe the starter, nope its good.  Possibly a short in a wire or bad fuse.  Nope all good. In the meatime battery still having to be charged every two days to keep the van running. Seems the guy who checked for me the first time forgot to mention, that constant charging a battery to can ruin it. And I really should have put a new battery on when I put on the new alternator, so now I have to save up the money to replace the battery (cheapest one I found was at walmart for 89 dollars).  Unfortunately, I am stuck at home until I get the money, because the battery won't even hold a charge long enough for me to make the one mile trip to the post office and back.

The battery I had put on the van in July is still under warranty, but I would have to wait until my brother gets a day off from work (their next scheduled holiday is Thanksgiving), as the company where I got it is only open Monday - noon on Saturday (my brother works until 2 p.m. Saturdays) whereas Wally World is open 24-7.  And did I mention, the battery will not even last 1 mile, even when driving the vehicle, no way would I make the 15 miles to the store where I got it.

So between van tags, new tires (the old ones had wires sticking out), $150 alternator, and cheap ass new battery that needs to be replaced, I can only hope people start buying soon so I can pay my everyday ordinary bills.  You know the type : mortgage, utilities, monthly prescriptions, food, insurance.

At least I won't have to worry about most of those things until the end of the this month, start of November.  Just can't wait to see what breaks next.

It's Been A While

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything.  I've had the flu twice, Mom's had the flu twice, and bronchitis once, and its just been busy as heck around  here.  Things are finally starting to fall into place though.  So hopefully, I will be able to keep up with this blog a lot better the rest of the year.

I do have some new things listed on both artfire and in both my my craft booth on bonanza.  I have also got some neat crocheted kitchen sponges available for direct sale.

Colors will vary.  Sponges are double thick, and measure approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.   They are made from 100% cotton yarn.  You can throw them in the washer and dryer as needed.  These will last longer than the ones you buy in the stores.  They are being sold in sets of 3.  I will ship anywhere in the US for $12.95.  This includes the cost of postage.

You can buy them by sending me an email with your shipping address and if you want specific colors. I will send you an invoice through paypal, where you can pay with your credit card.  Once I receive notice that the invoice has been paid, I will ship the sponges.  If you would rather pay with check or money order, let me know, and I will send you the mailing address to send the check or money order to.

Coming Soon

At some point over the next few weeks, I hope to post some of the items I make, with a link to purchase them through propay on them.  I am doing this, as  I hope to open my own website at some point within the next two years, getting away from paying others to host the items on their sites, there by keeping more of my hard earned money in my pocket.

Because this will take cash to create the type of website I want, I need to generate cash.  So hopefully, this will be an additional source of income.

Among the items I hope to start listing here are ereader sleeves, headbands, and lipbalm cozies.

So check back in a week or so, to see what I've had a chance to list.  Maybe you'll even find something your interested in.
